01/02/2026 - HISTORY NUVOLARI - FEBRUARY
The Month of Tazio Nuvolari’s Epic Triumphs, by Fabio Castagna, Head of Digital Bank, in collaboration with Giuseppe Pottocar, Director of the Tazio Nuvolari Museum
February, the heart of winter, is often synonymous with cold and impossible challenges. But for Tazio Nuvolari, the “Flying Mantuan,” this month became the stage for legendary feats that highlighted his skill, courage, and versatility as a champion without equal.
Amid the snow-covered peaks and forests of the province of Verona, Nuvolari wrote an unforgettable chapter at the I Criterium Invernale Autosciatorio in Bellori – Bosco Chiesanuova. Behind the wheel of his Alfa Romeo 6C Super Sport 1500 cc of Scuderia Alfa Corse, Tazio faced a unique race, combining cars and skis, under difficult and treacherous conditions. With absolute talent, balance, and determination, he claimed first place overall and victory in the 1500 cc class, once again proving that for him there were no limits of terrain or difficulty.
But February did not end there. In France, on the Pau circuit, Nuvolari cemented his legend at the II Grand Prix de Pau. Behind the wheel of the powerful Alfa Romeo 8B P3 3200 cc of Scuderia Ferrari, he dominated the race, taking first place overall ahead of internationally renowned drivers. Another display of courage, control, and genius, which secured his name among the greats of European motorsport.
Thus, February became the month when Nuvolari did not merely race, but challenged every limit: snow, tight corners, and the most feared rivals. A month of audacity, yet also of mastery, where every race transformed the Mantuan champion into a myth. Here follows a journey through the races of February, from 1925 to 1935: a calendar of exploits that tells, better than any words, why Nuvolari was not just a driver, but an immortal legend. During this month of his career, he competed in 3 races (1 on a motorcycle and 2 in cars), achieving 5 podiums in total and winning 4 of them, including the legendary victories at the I Criterium Invernale Autosciatorio and the II Grand Prix de Pau.
